The Wyoming Arts Council is hosting the Wyoming Folklife Festival on July 4th, 2026 in Cheyenne. Featuring demonstrations from folk & traditional artists from across Wyoming, the Folklife Festival is one part of the broader Capital City Celebration for America's 250th events happening that day in Cheyenne. The Folklife Festival will be on the south lawn of the Barrett Building (Wyoming State Museum) on July 4th, 2026, from 12 - 4PM.  The Wyoming Folklife Festival features eleven previous recipients of the Wyoming Arts Council’s Folk & Traditional Arts Mentoring Project Grant, which supports mentor artists in folk and traditional art forms as they pass on knowledge and skills to apprentices in their communities through in-person, hands-on instruction. Artists will be demonstrating traditions such as blacksmithing, saddlemaking, beadwork, regalia making, and fly rod making. The general public is invited to come visit with the artists and learn about their art forms. In addition, two traditional dance groups, the Wind River Dancers, and Las Angelitas Unidas y Los Rayos del Sol, will be performing during the day.
