The Exoduster movement was a critical component of the settling of the American West. As formerly enslaved people surveyed a post-emancipation world, they looked to the Great Plains for their promised "new birth of freedom." Join University of Wyoming Assistant Professor of History Cecily Zander, Ph.D. for a discussion of how their journey proved that the events of the Civil War and Reconstruction had a continental impact.
